If you truly love this guy then you want a personal relationship with him. It's going to be hard with him living with his last girlfriend. He may be truthful about not wanting to be with her. On the other side of the coin it would be so easy for him to accidentally slip up. Since the ex-girlfriend and he have been down that road before it would be easy for them to try it again. Their comfort level is already built up and a night drinking could lead to him starting a lie.
